Introduction to the Review Page

The e-PlanREVIEW® (EPR) Review page is where reviewers and other users will spend most of their time looking through, marking up, and commenting on plans supplied by applicants.

Know Before Beginning Your Review

Before you start a plan review, it’s important to keep the following in mind:

  1. You will need to use either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers to use all of the functionality on the Review page.

  2. You must belong to at least one Group in EPR in order to view the Review page for any project application.

    1. Groups are typically created based on your department, discipline, division, office location, etc.

    2. If you do not belong to any Group (and receive an error), contact your EPR Admin user.

  3. If multiple reviewers are assigned to review the same plans, you may see their work appear as you each save updates.

    1. This is normal and should not affect your review task.

  4. You will be viewing the latest submitted version of plans when the Review page first opens.

  5. Each plan review assignment belongs to a specific Group.

  6. All comments, sketches, measurements, and stamps belong to you but are also linked to your current Group.

If you open an assignment that does not belong to your group you can still mark it up, but cannot update the Assignment Status since it is not your assignment.

Some integrated partner systems will send reviewers directly to the EPR review page for an assignment to begin a plan review. If sent to the Project’s ASSIGNMENTS tab instead, simply find your assignment in the table and then click on the right-facing arrow to jump into the Review page. (The page should open in a new tab.)

How-To Markup

Refer to the links below for more instructions on how to use some of these tools for review.

The Thumbnail Panel

The Thumbnail Panel is located to the left of the review window and consists of two panes which users can toggle between: Thumbnails and Layers.

Thumbnails Pane

In the Thumbnails pane (which is the default view), users can preview the current document submittal, scroll through (or filter) to find a page, or click on a thumbnail to open that page in the review window. Once reviewers begin saving markups, markup information starts to display on the thumbnails as “badges” to let you know where markups exist.

If multiple submittals exist for a document, users can switch between each version from within the Thumbnails Pane as well.

Layers Pane

After toggling to the Layers pane, users can view every layer that is currently displayed in the review window and hide any, if desired. They can make the layer show up again by clicking the button once more.
