Revisions and Related Projects
For agencies who routinely receive new project applications related to existing (or even previously approved) applications, the ability to link these applications together may help with organization.
e-PlanREVIEW® (EPR) allows linking a new incoming project application to another project from within goPost or directly within EPR itself - as long as the agency is not using another integrated permitting system.
If using EPR with goPost, note that the “Use Revisions” configuration in goPost must be enabled by an Administrator so that project linking information can be routed over to EPR. For goPost integrations, linking should occur in goPost.
Linking Revisions and Related Projects
Linking related project applications, whether they are revisions or not, is possible directly within EPR.
To link projects, Project Coordinators and Administrators should open the newer project application record and proceed to link it to the earlier project. This establishes a relationship where the earlier project serves as a parent (or ‘master’) record, while the newer project is treated as a child (or ‘related project’) record.
To link two project application records (despite the name, the newer application does not need to be a “revision”) together:
Log into EPR.
Navigate to the Projects page.
Search for the newer project application that needs to be linked.
Open the project by clicking on (right-facing arrow).
Click on the project's REVISIONS tab.
Click inside the Master Project Number field and either start typing an existing project application number or scroll through the list of projects to find the desired number.
Click on the project number that will serve as the parent project.
Finally, click LINK.
The two project applications records are now linked. Both can be seen in a table within the REVISONS tab.
One or more projects can be linked to a single parent project, as needed, and these will all be listed as “Revisions.” A single project cannot be linked to two separate parent/master projects at a time, however.
Using Revisions in EPR
Linking two projects allows users to easily navigate from one project to the other within the REVISIONS tab without needing to search for (or memorize) all related project numbers.
It also helps staff remember long term which projects are related submittals (“Relationship” column).
While the child project will always show both the “Master” (parent) project as well as any other related projects, including itself, on the REVISIONS tab, the master project will only show the related projects (child or children) and not itself.
Unlinking Revisions
From the parent project REVISIONS tab you can navigate between projects but not much else.
If you ever need to unlink related projects, you will have to do so from the REVISIONS tab of the child project that needs to be unlinked.
To unlink a child from a parent, navigate to the child project (or, if there are many child projects, to any one of the child projects). From that child project’s REVISIONS tab, click to unlink.
Once unlinked, the REVISIONS tab will stop listing other projects.
