A Fire department assignment record for the same document also exists whose assignments status is 'approved' (APPR).

Things to Know
- Users may conduct concurrent reviews of the same document at the same time in their browser.
- You will see sketches, stamps and comments being added by other users in 'real time' each time you save your work.
- Your user account must be granted membership to at least one Group in order to perform plan review.
- Groups are typically created based on your departments, disciplines, divisions, office locations, etc.
- When the Review page loads, the most recent version of the plan review document will be made available.
- If markups, comments, measurements, etc. were created on prior versions of the document, those objects will be brought forward to the most recent version automatically.
- New markups, comments, etc. will always be associated to the most recent version.
- You may not 'conduct reviews' on prior versions but you may open prior versions to see the markups/comments, etc.
- Each plan review assignment is associated to a Group. (Groups are defined by your site administrator.)
- Each assignment is managed by an assignment Status.
- If you are a member of the assignment's Group, that Group will be selected as the default for new markups.
- If you belong to many Groups, you may conduct review for any Group. See Conducting review for multiple Groups.
- All comments, sketches, measurements etc. are associated to your user account and to the currently selected Group.
- Each Group is assigned a specific color by the site administrator. This color is used when drawing sketches and creating comments on the drawing canvas.
- Before creating/editing markups, measurements, stamps or comments, select 'Current Group' from the menu bar to choose the appropriate Group.
- Select LAYERS on the Thumbnail panel to show/hide markups by Group.
- You may not change the Assignment Status if you are not a member of the assignment's Group, however, if you can open any assignment, you may open add markups, comments, etc.
- Plan review comments are managed by a Disposition.
- Comments are created with an open disposition status so that they will be included on the reviewed plans (deliverables) returned to the customer for corrections.
- When the customer resolves the issue, you will change the comment disposition to a closed (resolved) status. This will remove this issue from the reviewed plans.
- We do not recommend deleting comments unless the comment was created in error.

Conducting review for multiple Groups
If you will conduct review for multiple Groups (ex: mechanical and plumbing or civil and architectural, etc.) you will need to change the Group prior to adding markups or comments.
About Groups and Layers
It is important to ensure the correct Group is selected before you begin your review because the Layer controls rely on this information to hide or show markups and comments on the drawing canvas.
Additionally, Groups manage how the markups and comments are selected when printing reviewed plans to a PDF document for return to your customer.
Groups are also used to manage how comments are placed on correction reports and exported comment records.
Switching between Groups
Follow these steps to select a different Group to add or edit comments, markups, measurements, stamps, etc:
Click on the Group as shown below, to open the 'Create Markup as...' window.
- Choose the Group that you want to conduct review for.
- In this example, the user can work under the Architectural, Civil, Electrical or Structural Group, and switch between any Group at any time.
Best Practices
All markups and comments are associated to the currently selected Group. It is important to ensure the correct Group is selected before you begin.
Groups are also used to manage how comments are placed on correction reports and exported comment records.
Completing your Review - Updating the Assignment Status
Because each Assignment is managed by a Status, it is important the assignment Status is updated when the assignment is finished.
Remember that:
- Each assignment belongs to a Group.
- You may conduct review on any assignment.
- You may not change the Assignment Status if you are not a member of the assignment's Group.
About Comment 'Tags'
Each comment added to the drawing canvas is assigned a number (incrementally), and presented as a tag on the drawing canvas.
The comment record is then displayed on the Comment Panel, using the same comment number. The Reviewers name, comment disposition and Group are displayed in the Panel as well (see below).
Click on the tag or click on the comment number in the comment panel to open the comment popup window.
For more information about comments, see the Video: Adding a Comment and the Article: Adding a Comment record.
Best Practices

Print to PDF
Select the Printer icon on the menu bar to open the Print to PDR Preview window.
Choose whether to include or exclude Sketches, Stamps and open Comments - and even closed Comments, in situations where that is appropriate.
The print process may take several minutes for very large PDF documents. When the printing completes, the Preview window will load to display the chosen layers
You may download the PDF if desired.
The printing process itself works as follows:
- The latest version of the PDF document uploaded to e-PlanREVIEW® (EPR) is opened
- Each page is copied into a new PDF file.
- Existing markups, stamps and comments for all groups and all users are flattened into the PDF pages.
Best Practices
Enhanced printing options to select markups and comments for specific Groups or users can be made from the project's Deliverables page. See Preparing Document Deliverables
