PDF files often have hidden content within them such as author’s name, program the PDF was created with, and sometimes sensitive information represented as metadata as described in the Adobe article Removing sensitive content from PDFs. These hidden contents may present issues when importing the PDF into a plan review software. This article describes an easy way to remove hidden content from PDFs using Adobe Acrobat.

Instructions

  1. Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat

  2. Select Tools > Redact

  3. On the Redact screen, select Sanitize Document

  4. Finally, when the Sanitize Document confirmation screen pops up, click OK to sanitize the PDF
